Diaper facts:

A baby uses an average of 12 diapers a day; toddlers use an average of 8 diapers a day.

An adequate supply of diapers can cost more than $100/month.

Safety-net programs, such as the Food Stamp Program and WIC, do not cover the cost of diapers. Cash assistance to help a family afford what Food Stamps do not cover is very limited and difficult to qualify for.

A daily supply of disposable diapers is required by most licensed daycare centers, including free and subsidized childcare. Without diapers, parents cannot leave a child to go to work, school or train for a job.

Diapers cost more at an inner-city corner drugstore or convenience store than at discount chain stores or online.

Wet, unhappy babies are crying babies, leading to additional emotional stress for the caregiver, along with health issues and emotional distress for the baby.
